Corrugated box strength and cushioning performance is determined by a number of factors. The box size, shape and style, the board grade and the flute profile have a major influence in the product protection offered by the corrugated carton. There are a number of standard board grades and flute profiles to choose from that will best suit your product.
The choice of board grade is often a choice of using Virgin Material (Kraft) verses board grades made from recycled material.
Long Fibre = high tear resistance, high tensile strength, durable option
The combination of virgin Fibre / long Fibre provides enhancement of strength properties under high humidity conditions and when stacking strength is required.
Ideal mostly for refrigerated / frozen products, dangerous goods and heavy duty packaging
Short Fibre = Offers acceptable stacking strength in “dry” conditions.
Many different recycled paper options.
Many products do not require full Kraft liners
Almost all corrugating medium is recycled
In our world today we must recycle, hence we must use a high proportion of recycled paper
